Lujon Wine Cellars was founded in 2005 by father and son, Lewis and John Derthick. After serving in the Navy, John discovered winemaking and followed that passion to UC Davis, where he studied viticulture and enology.
Years of experience in Napa, Sonoma, Washington, and Oregon shaped John’s craft. When his father suggested starting a family venture, John produced a small 100-case test batch—earning an 89-point Wine Enthusiast rating right out of the gate.
That first vintage sparked the journey. Today, Lujon continues to grow, crafting award-winning wines rooted in dedication and family.
In 2022, we partnered with Hero Loan for a limited promotion to celebrate veterans. During that time, every VA loan closed through Hero Loan included a bottle of Lujon Wine.

Folds of Honor is a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military members and first responders. Their mission is to honor the sacrifice of America’s heroes by investing in the futures of their loved ones.
